Episode #1: WHAT ARE VIRTUES?
Morgan goes beyond the dictionary and reaches out to family, friends, strangers, and experts to discover what virtues are, and what they are not. Throughout the episode she explores connections with virtues signaling, religious beliefs, character strengths, morals, values and even virginity. Her guest, movie director Spike Lee (availability TBD), shows how to turn adversity into a teachable moment with virtues.
Episode #2: THE HISTORY OF VIRTUES
With the help of video F/X, Morgan travels back in time to interview virtues experts, including Aristotle, Ben Franklin, and a “funny-looking old man” named Mahatma Gandhi. On her way back to present time she stops in 1960 to chat with, and inspire, a 6-year-old girl hanging laundry. Morgan is thrilled to discover the girl was a young Oprah Winfrey!
Episode #3: BEING OUR BEST IN THE WORST OF TIMES.
2020 presented a lot of difficulties and challenges… fires in Australia due to climate change; cultural icon and influencer Kobe Bryant died; the coronavirus pandemic and quarantine disrupted lives and killed hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S. alone; there were BLM protests and violence over George Floyd’s death, followed by defacing and tearing down statues of confederate leaders. Recognizing the events as teachable moments, Morgan interviews families and listens to their stories of how the virtues from “A” to “Z” empower kids and grownups to overcome the adversity and be their best even in the worst of times.
Additional episodes to be developed:
Poverty and class differences • Media literacy and social media addiction • Race and gender identity • Lying and cheating • Puberty and sexual awakening • Underage drinking and drug use • Bullying and violence • Self-esteem issues, depression and suicidal thoughts.
Not every episode will address the serious issues facing youth. Some will look at how virtues empower the little victories in life. Watch a student film example and see how Marcus uses Reliability to be someone people can depend on.
